Book Review: Rebel Thirds by Jillian Torassa

I was given a thirty page sample of Rebel Thirds by the author to review, and I can't wait to get my hands on the rest. Rebel Thirds is a fascinating story about a society where knowledge is considered criminal, and those born with high intelligence are enslaved. There are three classes of people, the Firsts, the Seconds, and the Thirds. The main character, Jade, is a seven year old girl who was born a Third. The story follows her struggle to understand her place in society. She has always been taught that she is evil, and that her entire life must be one of repenting, but deep down, she knows there is more to her than is mandated by the Firsts of her society. She fights against arbitrary rules, her bitterness fueling her, until the inevitable day when her recklessness catches up with her. Rebel Thirds is truly a spectacular book, and Torassa is an author to watch. I highly recommend giving it a read. It will pull you in from the first page. Five stars.
